We are happy to announce the appointment of Steven Haines as Symphony of the Americas’ new Executive Director. He will be working closely with our new Music Director Pablo Mielgo, the board of directors, and the entire community, to continue Symphony of the Americas’ impact on our region and bring music back to the community. Steven has nearly 30 years of performing arts management experience, having started his career right here in South Florida. He held key roles with major arts organizations across the country – as President and CEO with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops, The Philadelphia Orchestra, Executive Director of San Francisco’s Stern Grove Festival, and most recently as CEO of Tucson Symphony Orchestra. He brings a wealth of knowledge to our organization and we know he will lead our organization to new heights.
The Symphony of the Americas welcomes Pablo Mielgo as its new Artistic Director and Principal Conductor in a multi-year contract. The Symphony of the Americas Board of Directors unanimously voted to appoint Pablo Mielgo as its new Artistic Director and Principal Conductor after an 18 month selection process among more than one hundred candidates. Members of the orchestra, the Board, the community and performing artists participated in the detailed evaluation process. The Board’s selection of Mielgo stems fromhis artistic talent, his international connections in the classical music scene and his vision for the future for the Symphony of the Americas, which will bring prosperity and an exciting future to the orchestra in the years ahead.
